about

MISSION AND HISTORY
Community Building Youth Futures Grande Prairie (CBYF) is a local movement comprised community members that started in 2020 that is funded by the Tamarack Institute and the Government of Canada. We include but are not limited to youth, non-profit sector organizations, business people and employers, government, and representatives from the education sector.
Youth voice is central to our initiative as we strive to address barriers to education, training, and employment. We have over 90 youth involved in the movement in different ways. Underrepresented youth are our equal partners as we look to achieve long-term social change in Grande Prairie.

Over the past two years we have worked to develop a common agenda with the community that speaks to three areas where we see opportunities to affect change in order to increase graduation rates, post-secondary and apprenticeship rates, and employment rates for systematically and structurally excluded youth. These areas are Employment, Education, and Health and Wellbeing.
In the coming year, our Action Teams will contribute to solutions to increase youth health and wellbeing, increase high school graduation rates, increase youth transition rates to apprenticeship, post-secondary education, and training, and increase the number of youth who are employed within a career path that they are passionate about.
Powerful youth building solid foundations for our future.
